The MFN Project

We are working on rebuilding the mail server on Debian 12.
During this time, mail services provided by MFN will not be
online. We are attempting to carry all data over with the
upgrades, but in the event that things don’t go as planned,
we have backup images at the ready for deployment.

One of our project members had requested a while back that we
get them connected to our network stack via OpenVPN, however,
at the time that wasn’t something we support because the firmware
we were running didn’t make this easy.

Poking around tonight and revisiting this request, we found out
that the new firmware we used makes OVPN setup pretty easy to deal
with and we are able to offer IPv6 support from our /48 to client
devices.

We don’t know if this is something we plan to offer to members of
our project, but it does seem to actually work and could help with
supporting older platforms that have OVPN but not Wireguard support.

I apologize for the minor blips in the network and our hosted
services today. Core parts of the network needed updates for
a while now and I finally had a low spot in usage to make the
jump and it didn’t go as planned. Had to restore the routers
to midnight’s backup and run the updates again. But five update
cycles later and everything is running nicely again.
